At The Digital Embassy we recognise the importance of fostering collaborations that enhance digital safety and security, in line with our commitment to creating a safer online environment.

What are we doing about online safety?

As a company that provides industry leading corporate web services, The Digital Embassy has developed a set of policies, procedures and initiatives that assist us, and our clients to comply with applicable Australian content laws and regulations, including industry codes or standards made pursuant to the Online Safety Act (OSA). These create legal obligations relating to:

  • Class 1A material (comprised of child sexual exploitation material, pro-terror material, and extreme crime and violence material), and
  • Class 1B material (comprised of crime and violence material and drug-related material).

These activities include taking reasonable steps to consult, cooperate and collaborate with other industry participants including clients and commercial partners in respect to the removing, disrupting and/or restricting of class 1A and class 1B material, and responding in a timely and appropriate manner to communications from the eSafety Commissioner (eSafety), about code compliance.

Shared Objectives:

  1. Enhancing Digital Safety: Collaborating to implement solutions that promote digital safety for users across various online platforms.
  2. Education and Awareness: Educate users and client(s) about online safety practices, fostering awareness and understanding of potential risks.
  3. Compliance and Standards: Working together to adhere to industry standards and best practices, ensuring our products and services prioritize user safety.

Areas of Collaboration:

  1. Understanding and Adopting the Codes: As a web services company, we are dedicated to aligning our practices with these codes. This includes understanding the codes, adopting them into our operations, and ensuring compliance. We are aware that these codes apply to various sectors, including hosting services.
  2. Implementing Safety Measures: We are prepared to implement proactive monitoring where possible, account suspensions and deactivations, and the use of forms of age assurance or parental controls if needed. We understand that under the Act, eSafety will be able to receive complaints and investigate potential breaches of the codes or standards.
  3. Safety by Design: We look forward to participating in consultations and collaborations with eSafety, providing our input and learning from the process. We also aim to incorporate the principles of Safety by Design into our operations, embedding safety into the operations of our business.
